My sister has my Grandfather's WWI medals and so I was able to get a photo of them. I was able to recreate the entire set with authentic medals because there are so many of these loose medals for sale on Ebay.
It is shocking how family treasures are disposed of. To many people, they are just “old stuff” to be thrown in the bin. Choose your beneficiaries carefully.
It is so fortunate that you were able to save the medals and, through the way you have preserved them and your research, given meaning back to them and honoured their recipient, John Edwin Barnes - Thinking of your earlier post
What a fantastic save!
It was just purely a chance piece of luck

It’s such a tragedy when you see medals like this in antique shops if I could I would buy them all and research the families and try and return them

I can’t stop to think about what’s possibly been lost in my own family heartbreaking if you think about it.

Thanks so much Jane, it’s our job to ensure that their memory and legacy is passed to the next generation.
Well stated.
I'm so happy you were able to save the medals! Many families have nothing like this.
Thank you so much Jennifer I was so lucky to be in the right place at the right time and it’s sparked a life time of research
