The Chiddicks Observer 9th Edition
Welcome to another weekly round up of all the great stories I have spotted in the wonderful Substack Genealogy Community. There are just so many wonderful writers on here, it’s almost impossible to keep up with all the amazing work that everyone is producing. Here is just a snippet of what caught my eye this week………..
One of the most absorbing series that I have read so far has been Jane Chapman Murder at the Diggings - a truly wonderful read and a real whodunnit, full of twists and turns along the way. Beautfiully woven together by Jane’s unique style and wonderful use of AI images. I really do urge anyone to read this series from the start, you will be hooked, trust me!
Another one of my favourite writers on Substack is Lori Olson White and I am already captivated by the Epic Canoe Journey of George W. Gardner. I love the way they make the thousand mile test paddle seem like a walk in the park! Take a meander down the River with us…………..
The truth is always out there and an interesting tale of research from Sadie Nelson Trust nobody is good advice - my Genealogy ABC guide is:
A= Accept Nothing
B = Believe Nobody
C = Check Everything
Talking of ABC Randy Seaver gives us an excellent example of how to write a family history biography.
You can feel his sense of yearning and longing for home with every word that Thomas Waters writes. These really are of great Historical significance and thanks to Jennifer Jones for sharing these letters with us.
Arthur was a man determined to ‘dodge’ the call up to serve his country find out more from Dr Nell Darby to see if he did in fact make it to the frontline and if he did, did he survive?
Find out why sleep is overrated in this wonderful post from JenealogyScrapbook
That’s it for another whistle stop tour of all the wonderful stories that I have discovered this week here on Substack - please give these brilliant writers your support by sharing all their amazing stories and help spread the word……..

Thank you @Paul Chiddicks for your generous comments about my 'Murder at the Diggings' series. As you say, there is so much good stuff to read within our Genealogy community here on Substack, it is easy to miss things. I look forward to your weekly highlights each week as a prompt to good reads I may have missed.
Thanks for the share, @Paul, and for raising up some new voices I’ve not yet heard - I’m heading there now!
